The Button Bicycle School of Sewing is a friendly and relaxed sewing class, and our day workshops are no exception. In this workshop students will be walked through the process of making a skirt (we believe the best way of learning a skill is to have a go!) Students will have pattern language explained, be taught how to prepare pattern pieces as well as cutting out and preparing the fabric. Students will then be taught seam techniques, darts, how to insert a zipper, techniques for hems and finishing techniques to create a professional looking garment.

The class will be taught by qualified teacher Lottie. She has been sewing for as long as she can remember, she completed a textiles degree before training as a textiles teacher and working as a textiles designer and seamstress. Students will be able to draw on her  20+ years of experience learning tips and tricks to completing a high quality finish (as well as a few 'short cut' tips! shh).

Lottie's main aim of all of the button bicycle workshops is to pass on her enjoyment and love of sewing. The classes therefore aim to be above all relaxed and enjoyable. Refreshments including tea, coffee and biscuits are served but students are welcome to bring along other drinks and snacks.

Students are welcome to bring along a packed lunch or lunch can be provided by the Rookery for an additional cost of £10. If you wish to take up this option you can book alongside booking the workshop or add it on at any point before 11th March.

Please note this workshop does not include materials as in our experience students like the opportunity to select their own choice of fabric. if you wish for us to supply your fabric you can choose from one of our 5 beautiful fabrics for an additional charge of just £15. Again If you wish to take up this option you can book alongside booking the workshop or add it on at any point before 11th March.
